Alan will offer lens and sensor cleaning and will present “Camera Care Q & A” on Friday during lunch.

His image “Prairie Trees” earned the 2012 Gold Medal at the Prix De La Photographie Paris competition (PX3) in the Non-Professional Landscape category and was selected for the 2012 PX3 annual book due out this spring. His first solo exhibition “Close Proximity” was on view this past autumn at the County City Building in Lincoln.  An upcoming exhibition with photographer Jorn Olsen is scheduled for October 7 through November 15 of this year at the Fred Simon Gallery in the Old Market of Omaha.

Babcock has worked in sports for over 20 years, working with the New York Yankees, Kansas City Royals and the University of Nebraska.  A Seattle native, Babcock picked up his first camera (a Kodak Instamatic 100) at the age of 12 and spent his summers shooting landscapes around Mt. Rainier. After a long hiatus from photography, Babcock re-discovered his passion six years ago. Since then, his worked has been published nationally, including in Sports Illustrated and ESPN Magazine. Babcock is a graduate from the University of Nebraska-Kearney where he majored in Journalism and Mass Communication.

Brett L. Erickson
Topic: Documentary / Fine Art
Erickson grew up in central Nebraska, five miles from the nearest small town, learning the beauty of the landscape and its details firsthand. His current project, "PlainSky, Nebraskans," now in its fourth year, focuses on the interrelationships between the landscapes, structures and residents of west Nebraska. His book of the same title is scheduled to be published in spring 2013, its foreword penned by famed National Geographic photographer Sam Abell.
Erickson's award-winning images have been featured in a number of prominent galleries and shows across the Great Plains, and have garnered praise from widely known photographers such as Sam Abell, Richard Olsenius, Peter Ralston, and Bill Wright. A former journalist, his photographs and reports were published by media outlets including National Public Radio, American Public Media, and Nebraska Educational Telecommunications, as well as newspapers in Nebraska and Oregon.
Erickson teaches photography, journalism, and online development at Hastings College. He resides in Hastings, Nebraska, with his wife, Irina Belikova-Erickson, and two children, Keira and Ian.

Matt Miller
Topic: Life in the Great Plains
Matt has been shooting Cornhuskers, cowboys and common folks at the Omaha World-Herald since September 2002. He was lucky enough to catch the end of the Tom Osborne era while in college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Any day he gets to spend in Nebraska's Sandhills is a good day. If nice light and people (a rare sight in western Nebraska) are tossed into the mix, it’s even better. Shooting photos for the World-Herald offers several challenges: the repetition of sporting events, handling feelings at emotional events like shootings and funerals, and handling the wide range of weather we cover in the Great Plains.
